Frequently Asked Questions
We are here to help, so please reach out to us directly if you need further information HERE.
Do I need a CBT to ride an Ottr Moped:
The short answer is probably yes. However, we provide every Ottr customer with free CBT Training, once you have subscribed on the App. All we ask is that you complete a minimum of a 3-month subscription.
Ottr electric mopeds are 50cc or 125cc equivalent, and can be restricted to 30mph/50cc equivalent. Meaning if your driving was license issued before 2001, you can ride the restricted moped without L plates and do not need to take a CBT course or take the full moped test.
If you have a provisional or full driving license (and this was issued after February 2001) you will need to complete your Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) and only then are you able to ride your Ottr EMoped without Learner Plates.
For anyone needing ‘full mode’/125cc equivalent, a CBT is required, regardless of license issue year.
What is the minimum age to subscribe to Ottr ToGo?
You must be aged 18 years of age or over at the start of your subscription to use the Ottr ToGo subscription service.
How can I collect my Ottr Electric Moped after my subscription is confirmed?

We can provide a rear storage/delivery box free of charge. A mobile phone holder ans USB charger can be fitted at an addtional one-off cost of £40. Please make us aware of any addtional requirements before collection.
Do you provide any safety equipment?
When it comes to safety equipment, one size doesnt fit all. We do not provide any personal safety equipment as standard, but we can make some great recommendations where you can purchase your own.
What insurance is provided during my subscription?
Third party liability insurance is provided as standard with every Ottr ToGo subscription. However, to qualify for the Third-party liability insurance, you must be over 18 years of age and have no more than 6 points on your driving license. Delivery drivers are required to arrange their own Hire & Reward Insurance, and we can recommend some great providers. that we already partner with.
Are there any milage restrictions during my subscription?
Yes. We adopt a fair mileage policy, which means you can use up to 1,500 miles per month on your subscription. Anything over this will be charged on a monthly basis, at £0.10p per mile.
Do I need to pay a deposit to secure my Ottr electric scooter?
We know that the initial cost to get you on the road is really important, so we only ask for a £200 deposit at the start of your subscription. We will inspect your moped before you drive away and make you aware of any existing marks on the vehicle. Once you return the moped, and the inspection is completed, your deposit is returned within 5 business days.
What happens at the end of my subscription?
Should you decide that you no longer require your moped, we just ask that you give us 2 weeks (10 business days) notice of your decision. We will then confirm the subscription end date and agree a date & time for you to return the vehicle to an Ottr Hub.
What happens if I am involved in a road traffic incident?
If you find yourself in this situation, the most important thing to do is ensure you and anyone else involved is seen by emergency services (if required).
Please call our 24/7 contact centre (0115 7788103) and make us aware, so we can assist in the recovery of the vehicle and drive you back home.
What happens if I receive any parking/speeding tickets during my subscription?
Once we receive a notification of your vehicle and the nature of the alleged offence, we will pass your personal contact details onto the appropriate business or authority. We will also email your details of the alleged offence.
You are responsible for payment of all fines incurred during your subscription period.
Where can I find the most up to date pricing for the subscription?
You'll find all information around our pricing on this site, and the Ottr ToGo App. But if you need further information, please give us a call.
What happens if my electric scooter is lost or stolen?
When you realise that your moped has been lost or stolen, please notify the police and our contact centre as soon as you can. We will then work with the police to recover the vehicle, which has several GPS trackers embedded, so we can see where the vehicle is in real-time.
What happens if my electric scooter has something that needs fixing?
Please contact us using the Ottr ToGo App as soon as you can, and we will make arrangements for you to bring the moped into one of our Ottr Hubs.
If you cannot move the vehicle, then please contact us to activate Rider Rescue, and we will recover the vehicle.
